Allie and Kyle’s Wedding :: Sedona, Arizona

Allie and Kyle’s Wedding in Sedona, Arizona was amazing! The weather was gorgeous, the environment was beautiful, and the bride and groom were breathtaking. It was a good day to be a wedding photographer! Raeleen and I had an unforgettable time. The ceremony took place at L’Auberge de Sedona overlooking stunning red rock vistas. From the ceremony site, Allie, Kyle, and the bridal party all took Pink Jeeps down to Red Rock Crossing, in the shadow of Cathedral Rock, where we had a great time shooting their formals.

Done with the formals, and ready for the reception, we crusied down to the Sedona Golf Resort. There the sun set on the day and our night was then filled with a romantic first dance, cigars, and maritime dancing from Nova Scotia (Allie’s hometown). This is a wedding and marriage that Raeleen and I will always remember. Thank you for treating us like family, Allie and Kyle. We can’t wait to see you again soon!

Allie and Kyle’s Wedding Teaser :: The Red Rocks of Sedona, Arizona

How amazing is this view? Raeleen and I flew down from Seattle to shoot Allie and Kyle’s wedding this last weekend in Sedona, Arizona. Absolutely stunning. The weather was awesome and more importantly, we got to capture an amazing couple on their most memorable day. We had such a great time being treated as not just wedding photographers, but as friends, and even family. Thanks so much Allie and Kyle, we had the best time.

San Diego Zoo! Our side trip after a weekend wedding…

A couple weekends ago, Raeleen and I flew down to San Diego, cameras in tow, to shoot Alicia and Mark’s wedding. The wedding was absolutely beautiful, a much different flavor than the Seattle weddings we photograph. As soon as those pictures are ready, I’ll post up the favorites for you to see.

In the meantime, here are a ton of San Diego Zoo pictures for everyone to check out. Raeleen and I took the opportunity to see the world famous zoo and grab some snapshots of the animals. I think the flamingos were my personal favorite. Enjoy!

San Diego Zoo photographs of Macaws

Okay, so above are the Macaws. Rae and I were walking and overheard a zookeeper announcing the release of the birds. We came late and had no idea what was in the aluminum cage. We just heard a bunch of rustling and then a flood of colorful birds. This was my attempt at catching them all flying out at super high speeds.

San Diego Zoo flamingos

Ok, definitely my favorite of the zoo. These guys were colorful and had a ton of character.

Zoo shots in San Diego of ducks

These two ducks were in the same water as the flamingos. They were also holding up one leg, very cute :)

San Diego Zoo camel

Great story, this Camel was spitting at all the kids that came up to the wall and started pestering it! Very funny to watch. A couple moms got hit too :)
San Diego Zoo's huge camel

I have no idea what was going on with this Camel. It was huge and it was foaming something from its mouth. Pretty gross.

San Diego Zoo Meerkats!

Another favorite. I love meerkats!

San Diego Zoo elephant
San Diego Zoo koalas

Apparently Koalas sleep most of the day. Their diet doesn’t give them enough energy but to be active mostly during feeding times.

Snake-necked turtles. Crazy stuff.

This guy is from the Galapagos. I think he was around 2 feet tall and maybe 4 feet or so long. Very big, very slow.

Photography from our trip to La Paz, Mexico

This is what Raeleen and I did for Christmas. We flew to La Paz, Mexico in Baja California Sur to see Raeleen’s Dad, who is beginning a long sail on around the world on his sailboat.

La Paz was beautiful, not very touristy and was definitely a warm alternative to the snow in Seattle!

Here are a few shots of our trip :)

Ok, so all the crazy little specks in this shot below? They’re the beginning of a swarm of bees coming up the hillside. This shot was taken before we saw them, and before we ran. There were thousands upon thousands of these little guys and they created a huge dark cloud as they came toward us. Those bees were the most I’ve ever seen at once…

Josh and Sarah’s Engagement Session

Raeleen and I flew down to Redondo Beach, California to shoot Josh and Sarah’s engagement session. What an amazing time we had! Josh and Sarah were so much fun. We began the day with Chubb, their oh-so-fluffy puppy who, while we were in Redondo, graduated from his fenced area to the whole house! Congrats pup! It’s obvious who their second love is, Chubb was such a sweatheart and was definitely an important part of their pictures :)

From there Josh and Sarah took a quick ride on their bikes outside and were met with beautiful sunshine. We went to Redondo Beach, to Palos Verdes, Hermosa Beach, and to the LACMA museum. A full day with, of course, the necessary adult beverage stops ;)

The beach was unbelievable. Maybe that’s because we don’t have great beaches in Seattle, but the sunset, water and sand make for a great spot to shoot. The LACMA was also amazing. We visited their outdoor exhibit which consisted of more than two hundred cast iron Lampposts. Make sure you check out those shots, they are definitely unique and a lot of fun.

Thank you so much Josh and Sarah for bringing us down there and making us feel like family. We had a wonderful time and we absolutely cannot wait for your wedding in Napa this summer!
